MJ is a wonderfully talented songwriter who came to me with blocks around her creative expression.

Even though she’d been writing songs for years — and felt comfortable sharing them in small circles — she wanted to start recording her songs and sharing them with a wider audience.

The problem was, every time she thought about taking steps to record her songs, she felt fear, panic, and freeze.

She was aware of some trauma in her past that contributed to the issue, and wanted help to resolve and heal it so she could record her songs confidently.

After a consultation, I told her we could make significant progress on this issue in just one month.

On a scale of 0-10, I asked her to rank the following statements, so we could get a baseline to keep track of her progress. Below were her initial responses:

  • I feel panic around sharing my creative expression: started high at an 8
  • I assume people will judge or criticize my work: started high at a 10
  • When I think about reaching out to audio engineers or producers, I feel intense fear: she said that this was so strong it felt like an 11
  • I feel a strong need to have a loving person vouch for my creations: started high at a 7

I gathered some more information about how she wanted to feel — confident, free, trusting, safe, playful, and expressive! — and from there, we booked our hypnotherapy session to root out the blocks that were holding her back.

It was a powerful, moving session, as we worked through old memories and impressions that still stored tension, trauma, and hurtful beliefs. By the end of the session, she felt significant relief, and I made her a customized self-hypnosis audio (about 15 minutes long) to listen to for the next three weeks.

When I saw her for a follow-up about a month later, she was in joyful disbelief because she could not find the feeling of panic or freeze anywhere in her body. “I just don’t feel it anymore,” she said. “I can’t believe it, but it’s gone!”

When we checked back in on her baseline scores, here is what she reported on a scale of 0-10, just 30 days later:

Change like this is absolutely possible when you get to the root of the underlying emotional charge.

You don’t have to talk about it for hours and hours, or “muscle through and do it anyway” when you feel massive resistance.

We can get to the root of the issue quickly so that you can move forward with ease and joy.

MJ is now taking steps to record and distribute her songs to a wider audience, and I’m so thrilled I got to play a part in her expansion.
